Sidmouth is a town in Devon, with a population of 12,569. It lies on the English Channel coast and is 14 miles from the county town of Exeter. Sidmouth is on the Jurassic Coast.

Sidmouth was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. Sites of interest include the parish church of St Giles and St Nicholas, which was rebuilt during the nineteenth-century. The church of All Saints was also constructed during the nineteenth-century. The Norman Lockyer Observatory, founded in 1912, is located in Sidmouth. Other attractions include Connaught Gardens, which date from the nineteenth-century. Sidmouth Folk Festival has been held every August since 1955 and offers events such as concerts, dances and workshops.

Sidmouth has several schools, including Sidmouth College, which provides secondary education.

There is no railway station in Sidmouth; the nearest railway station is Feniton, which offers services to destinations including London and Exeter. There are bus services in operation in the town.
